Effects of differences in occupational therapist¡¯s task-oriented interventions on the upper extremity functions of hemiplegia patients

Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to apply simple feedback appliances, occupational therapists¡¯ intervention tasks, and occupational therapists¡¯ simple exercise to patients with hemiplegia due to stroke and investigate the effects of those interventions on the functional improvement of the patients¡¯ upper extremity movements.

Method: Forty five patients with hemiplegia due to stroke having hypofunction in their upper extremities were enrolled in this study. Forward stretching motions that activate the triceps muscle of the arm and sideward stretching motions that activate the deltoid muscle were set as common motions and changes after training were observed.

Results: The functional movements of the upper extremities were improved in ; the greatest improvement of upper extremity functions could be identified in the Occupational therapist mediation task performance training group with direct interventions by therapists (p<.05).
